Jeffree Star has finally sold his bubblegum pink starter mansion for $3.4 million after putting the ‘Barbie dreamhouse’ on the market four months ago, but he took a $220,000 loss on the deal.
The 35-year-old YouTuber listed the 6,785-square-foot home in Calabasas, California, for $3.595 million in July after paying $3.62 million for the property when he bought it in 2016.
Property records reveal Star’s old home was purchased by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Harpreet Bawa and his wife Sabreena, according to Variety, but it’s unclear if they really love the color pink or they have renovations in mind.
Finally free: Jeffree Star, 35, has sold his bubblegum pink starter home for $3.4 million after moving into his $14.6 million mega-mansion (pictured) last December
For sale: Jeffree listed the pink home (pictured) for $3.595 million in July, slightly less than he paid for it. When it sold for $3.4 million, he took a $220,000 loss
Neighborhood: The 6,785-square-foot property is located in Calabasas, California, and looks like your typical West Coast mansion from the outside
One-of-a-kind: The YouTuber bought the home four years ago for $3.62 million and turned it into his ‘Barbie dreamhouse’
Not making a profit: The estate sold for $220,000 less than Star paid for it, not including the money he put into the home over the years
Not only is the selling price lower than what Starr originally paid, but it also doesn’t reflect how much money he put into the home’s custom fixtures, including the hundreds of thousands of dollars he spent on a closet bank vault to house his collection of designer luxury goods.
The vault can only be accessed with a fingerprint and retina scan, and when he was living in the home, he had it guarded by an armed officer who stood outside the bulletproof door to the closet 24 hours a day.
While the Jeffree Star Cosmetics founder gave a tour of the high-tech closet in a viral YouTube video in May 2019, the listing didn’t include any mention or photos of the standout custom feature.
Marc and Sara Shevin of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices were in charge of listing of the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate, which Star previously called his ‘Barbie dreamhouse.’
Added touches: Star spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on custom fixtures for the home, which he decorated with pink walls, curtains, and chandeliers
Amazing: Star had a closet bank vault made of 10,000 pounds of steel installed in the home, though the standout feature is not mentioned nor is it pictured in the listing
All the stuff: The vault was used to protect Star’s handbags and accessories. It remains unclear if he will put a vault similar to his current one in his new home
Lots of room: The property boasts six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, many of which are pink
Spa living: The master bedroom features an all stone bath, spa tub, a glass-encased shower, and a walk-out balcony that overlooks the neighborhood
Design aesthetic: While the cabinets and stone tub are neutral colors, Star couldn’t resist painting the bathroom walls pink
Custom: According to Star, the pink tufted leather that covers the staircase walls was ‘installed by several craftsmen’
The property is located within the Calabasas Park Estates gated community, and while it looks like your typical California mansion from the outside, the interiors are in a league of their own.
The home is decorated with shades of bubblegum-pink paint, fabrics, and fixtures, including pink curtains and two pink chandeliers in the kitchen. According to Star, the pink tufted leather that covers the staircase walls was ‘installed by several craftsmen.’
However, the home’s description didn’t mention the pink interiors, which are impossible to miss in the photos, and, instead, focused on the property’s best features.
According to the listing, the estate has a chef’s kitchen with two islands and a breakfast bar, a formal dining room, a large family room with a wet bar and fireplace, and a two-story entry foyer that is described as being ‘warm, inviting, and filled with natural light.’
All in the details: Many of the pink rooms are adorned with matching pink curtains
No need to point it out! The listing didn’t mention the pink interiors, which are impossible to miss in the photos, and, instead, focused on the property’s best features
Not your average kitchen: The chef’s kitchen comes with two islands, a breakfast bar, and, of course, two pink chandeliers
Time to entertain: The pink walls are offset by brown woodwork, and the large family room has a wet bar and fireplace
Funkier design: One room has hot pink velvet curtains that match the wall, which are almost red
Ritzy: The property is located within the Calabasas Park Estates gated community, and the balcony in the master suite overlooks the neighborhood
Be my guest: The outdoor patio has a fireplace and plenty of room for entertaining
Feels like home: A two-car garage is located on the side of the home, which is decorated with pretty landscaping
One catch: Even though Calabasas can be scorching in the summer with the desert heat, the home doesn’t have a pool — but there is plenty of room to add one
The master bedroom features an all stone bath, spa tub, a glass-encased shower, and a walk-out balcony that overlooks the neighborhood.
As Variety pointed out back in July, the home notably lacks a swimming pool, but there is certainly enough room in the backyard for one to be added.
The listing came less than a year after the YouTuber dropped an astonishing $14.6 million on a mega-mansion for himself and his now ex-boyfriend Nathan Schwandt.
The deed to the estate in Hidden Hills, California closed in December 2019, and the beauty mogul moved into the more than 25,000 square-foot property right before Christmas.
Star’s new mansion, which boasts eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, is a considerable upgrade from his pink home, which he said goodbye to in an emotional video last winter.
His REAL dream house: Star showed off his new home in a YouTube video earlier this year
New digs: Star’s dropped an astonishing $14.6 million on the mega-mansion, which he moved into in December 2019
Stunning: The home boasts eight bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, two guest houses, and a two-floor gym
Space to relax: Star announced in October on Twitter that he and his then-boyfriend Nathan Schwandt were house hunting. The home’s master bedroom (pictured) has its own sauna
Upgrade: The more than 25,000 square-foot home (pictured is the backyard) is a considerable change from Star’s former mansion
He opened up about his new home and how ‘f**king excited’ he was to move into a larger space on his Instagram Stories at the time.
‘For Christmas I was like, “B***h I’m ready to move.” Me and Nathan, we’ve outgrown this house right here two years ago, b***h. I look like a hoarder, there’s been no room,’ he said.
Ready to move on: Star and Schwandt split last year, just weeks after moving into their new home
Upgrades and repairs were in progress so he could officially move in before the holidays.
Jeffrey’s old home, which neighbors elite celebrities such as Will Smith, was expected to be listed weeks later, but it didn’t hit the market until the summer.
His new Hidden Hills community is an opulent neighborhood for celebrities thanks to the number of million-dollar mansions overlooking Los Angeles.
Star’s new neighbors include the likes of Kylie Jenner, Kris Jenner, Drake, The Weeknd, and John Stamos.
His recent purchase is one of the more extravagant mansions in the community of nearly 700 homes, all of which are guarded by three main gated entrances.
Upon entering the more than 25,000 square-foot home, visitors are greeted with a large entryway and a double staircase leading up to the second floor.
All the amenities: Star said he outgrew his old home and now has space for all of his stuff that includes a gym (pictured)
Fancy: The home also comes equipped with an elevator to transport Star between the three floors
Spacious: The home was originally built in 2007 and sold in May 2010 to a financier and his actress wife
Renovating: Last December, Star said he was currently repairing and renovating areas of the home. He moved in right before Christmas
The eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms likely provide plenty of space for Star and his four dogs: Delicious, DaVinci, Diva, and Drama.
If the main home is not enough, the property has two separate guest houses for when Star wants to entertain family and friends. The mansion also boasts a 4,700 square-foot garage to park Star’s luxury vehicles.
Staying busy: The YouTuber purchased the property following the success of Jeffree Star Cosmetics and his YouTube videos
The Hidden Hills mansion was built in 2007, according to Variety, and then acquired by financier Jeff Feinberg and part-time actress Stacey Feinberg in May 2010 for $13 million.
The couple briefly lived in the mansion before moving out during their divorce.
It’s unclear who lived in the home following Feinberg, but it is believed that it remained relatively empty for years before Star purchased the property.
The home went on and off the market multiple times in recent years, but the buyers at the time fell through.
Star’s new home includes a dramatic ballroom, a master bathroom complete with a sauna, a spa room, two-story gym, and wine cellar.
The YouTuber and owner of Jeffree Star Cosmetics, who has an estimated net worth of $200 million, has likely found entertaining outdoors more enjoyable thanks to his new home’s amenities.
Incredible: The large property sits in Hidden Hills, which is home to a number of celebrities, including Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Drake, and The Weeknd
Time to play: The home comes equipped with a massive game room featuring a pool table and a sitting area
Waiting for him: The property had been on and off the market until Star purchased it late last year
All the room: Star said he outgrew his last home, but now the new property should offer up plenty of space for him
Room to run: Star’s four dogs together are probably enjoying the extra space
Amenities: It wouldn’t be a California mega-mansion without a built-in home theater (pictured)
Options: If that wasn’t enough, the estate also has an unfinished barn that could be converted into a third guesthouse or even a studio space for Star to film his many YouTube videos
The backyard includes a large pool in the center of the space with an outdoor kitchen and built-in BBQ area nearby.
If that wasn’t enough, the property has an unfinished barn that could be converted into a third guesthouse or even a studio space for Star to film his many YouTube videos.
Star quickly adapted to live in his new mansion, but he once thought his Barbie dreamhouse was going to be his forever home, which may be why he didn’t mind splurging for a custom bulletproof vault for his handbags.
When he first unveiled the vault on his YouTube channel, he said it was unlikely that he would ever sell his starter mansion.
‘This was my first home I ever bought,’ Star said. ‘It’s so special to me, and I’m probably going to keep it for the rest of my life.’
Namaste: The home also has a zen spa area with a fireplace for Star to enjoy massages
Gorgeous: While Star planned on putting his old home on the market in early 2020, he didn’t end up listing it until the summer
Drink up: Another amenity to the home is a wine cellar to store all of Star’s alcohol
Hidden touches: ‘I will be moved in before Christmas…this house will be up for sale in a few weeks,’ Star said Monday. ‘It will be crazy to say goodbye to this house’
But that all changed in October 2019 when he announced on Twitter that he was house hunting with his boyfriend. Just weeks after moving into his new home, Star revealed that he and Schwandt had broken up after five years together.
Star’s big move came just weeks after he unveiled a phenomenally successful beauty collaboration with fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson, who documented the entire behind-the-scenes process that went into creating the line for a docu-series on his own channel.
The pair is understood to have raked in a staggering $54 million from the project.
Launchmetrics noted that figure as the entire Media Impact Value, which takes into account the money earned from sales of the sold-out range, as well as the funds earned from the accompanying YouTube series.
Star’s team also previously stated that beauty retailer Morphe, which sells the YouTuber’s products, expected $17.5 million in in-store sales from the collaboration.
The sell-out success of the products on Star’s own website then made an additional estimated $17.5 million in revenue — totaling a whopping $35 million altogether.
Dawson is believed to have walked away with around $10 million from the venture.
