Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S, analysis: the risk is not to be cheap, but to end up on the market as one more
For the second year in a row, one of Xiaomi’s main families, the Redmi Note, offers four different models with significant differences between Gad and one of its members.
The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S is the most ambitious model of the three that are just behind the Redmi Note 10 Pro that we have already analyzed in Engadget. On the table we find the usual arguments of this family: technical data sheet and design at a reduced price. Let’s see if the formula still works for them.

Talking about large terminals is complicated when it is very difficult to find smartphones that are not around 6-6.5 inches of screen. If you choose the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S as your next phone, you already know that you get a generous model in height but that we have found it quite comfortable and pleasant in hand .
The weight and thickness, of around 180 grams and 8 mm respectively, make the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S a tireless phone that supports a secure grip. In addition, it offers an IP53 profile for protection against dust and splashes .
The design and overall quality of the Redmi Note 10S does not clash with the price tag
The personality of the Redmi Note 10 family is found on the back, where the back curves slightly and does so with a brightness and tone that suits the terminal very well. Of course, that finish makes dirt and especially fingerprints , one more element of the terminal.
Although the rear of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S is practically identical in appearance to that of its older brother, the Note 10 Pro, there is a substantial difference in the camera module, which only has “one height”.
Although on an aesthetic level we are not going to notice the difference, in practice it is a terminal that less accuses the position lying on the table, limping only when we touch the upper left area of the terminal.
Side fingerprint reader and headphone port
The metal frame, well crimped with the back and front with Gorilla Glass 3 protection , houses the main physical elements of the Redmi Note 10S.
The fingerprint reader on the power button and the two main speakers are differential elements of this Redmi Note 10S
At the bottom we find the USB-C port , a headphone port and one of the main speakers. Here is one of the good news of this Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S, which is none other than the stereo speaker system, finding the second member in the upper frame and without sharing space with the telephone receiver.
The rest of the physical elements are distributed on the left side, with the triple tray for a microSD and two SIMs (it is DualSIM), as well as on the right, where the volume control and the power button are located. This acts as a fingerprint reader , with a correct operation both in precision and speed of action. Face identification is also included.
60 Hz basic AMOLED
In the end, with a current smartphone, where we spend the most time is in front of its screen. In this Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S we find a 6.43-inch AMOLED- type panel and a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels , resulting in a density of 409 dpi. Good balance to maintain a sharp image and enter the standards of the affordable mid-range.
The AMOLED screen of the Redmi Note 10S could have been a mainstay of the terminal had it not been for its only 60 Hz refresh rate
The AMOLED panel that mounts this Redmi Note 10S offers a high contrast of 4500000: 1, with a brightness of 700 nits and 8-bit color mode. The great absence, as you may have deduced, is a refresh rate greater than 60 Hz. There is no option here to give it an extra fluency, something that we miss for this level of terminal and that, whether we want to or not, penalizes the experience in day to day with the phone.
The technical data of the Redmi Note 10S screen is true to our experience with it. The screen shows that it is AMOLED because of the contrast and the intensity of the colors. It’s also well calibrated at the factory, with three color modes: auto (recommended), saturated, and standard. We can fine-tune the color temperature in all of them.
