Xbox Series X games, backward compatibility details, and more for Microsoft’s new console

In the 1980s, the question was “Where’s the beef?” In 2020 it will be: ‘Where are the games?’

While the gaming market is juicier than ever, console launches can be a bit thin when it comes to launching titles. However, early game disclosures for this upcoming generation have been promising, and gamers looking for the next generation of sports games will have plenty to look forward to in the next iteration of the Xbox console line.

MORE: Everything You Need to Know About the Xbox Series X.

With the Xbox Series X set to hit the market at some point in the fourth quarter of 2020, the console race has been neck and neck so far, with both Sony and Microsoft waiting for the other to flash with the release date and retail price. Reports indicate that the PS5 could be around $ 550, without an official price yet to be determined.

As for the games, that’s all user preference. Although the specifications between the two consoles have points in both directions, the actual landscape of the games has so far been incomplete. But at least we have a more complete picture of what to expect as Santa strolls down the chimneys this holiday season, with the Xbox game showcase coming in July.

Here’s what we know about the upcoming games for the Xbox Series X.

Xbox Series X games

A majority of the announced games from the Xbox Series X gaming showcase fall into one of three categories: Launch Day, Holiday Day or TBA. The list of confirmed games for the upcoming console is long, but the release dates are sparse.

Xbox Series X backward compatibility

For those who want to make the leap into the new console generation, but don’t want to sell your old games, you’re in luck: Xbox Series X is expected to offer full backward compatibility all the way back to the original Xbox.

However, there is a small caveat: While the Xbox Series X offers compatibility with the Xbox One and those current games, there is a list of Xbox 360 and Xbox games that are backward compatible. At this time, Microsoft should not continue to add games to backward compatibility
