Angelo Ogbonna will miss a significant part of West Ham’s season after sustaining a serious knee injury against Liverpool.
The Hammers defeated the Reds 3-2 on Sunday to advance Jurgen Klopp’s side to third place in the Premier League table.
But the optimistic mood of that win has been tempered by the discovery of a problem with defender Ogbonna’s anterior cruciate ligament.

The defender now faces months on the bench after suffering a serious knee injury
The Italian international has already started work to recover from the injury to his right knee.
“ After being replaced following a separate incident that led to a cut above the eye, Angelo felt some discomfort in his right knee, so we scanned him to determine the extent of the injury, ” said the chief. West Ham Physician Richard Collinge.
“That scan showed some damage to the anterior cruciate ligament and we have started his rehabilitation immediately.
“Angelo will see another specialist this week and then we will have a clearer picture of his recovery timeline.”
The Italian international has already begun work to recover from the injury to his right knee
