Weather Blog: Cold, snowy in some parts of the US for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Weather warnings and advisories

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Cold and Snow in Some Parts of the United States for Thanksgiving:

The western United States and the plains have the worst weather with a lot of snow and rain. The mountains in the west will receive very heavy snow, including areas in Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.

The Plains states will be rather bleak with a mix of snow and rain from northern Texas to Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

There will be brief snow showers in the far northeastern United States in the morning, but this will not cause major problems. The major travel issues will certainly be in the western half of the country.

Some of the snow totals in the west will be measured in feet instead of inches in the coming days, especially in the higher elevations.

There are several advices in the west. Winter storm warnings and watches are common, but a Flood Watch is also in effect for parts of Southern California and Arizona.

Most of the country will be cold or cool, with mild conditions limited to the southeastern United States.

We are lucky in Florida, because it is going to be a beautiful day. For the Tampa Bay region, it is briefly cloudy in the morning, but mostly sunny.

High temperatures reach the upper 70s to low 80s. A light northern breeze will intensify the dry air throughout the region, so while it will be warm we will not have high humidity like we have had for years.
