Still bruised and bloodied from his incredible battle with Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler has called Conor McGregor and declared that he wants to face the Irishman next.

Chandler played his role in giving the UFC an all-ages showdown after going blow-for-blow with Gaethje inside the Octagon, as the two men beat each other to a bloody pulp before Chandler was defeated by decision of the score card.

Former Bellator supreme Chandler gave everything he had inside Madison Square Garden in a ruthless and chaotic battle and left the arena drenched in blood as he licked the respect and adulation of the audience.

Chandler quickly turns his attention to his next opponent and uses social media to spread the word.

Writing on his Twitter platform, Chandler posted a photo of himself taking on the notorious McGregor and simply captioned it ‘2022.’

Both fighters will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses, so the tantalizing showdown would certainly make sense for a number of reasons.

McGregor was receptive to the idea and was quick to praise Chandler for the fight.

McGregor is recovering from a leg injury sustained in the final moments of his first-round TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July. Poirier also stopped the former lightweight and featherweight champion in January at the UFC 257 main event.

And while many would assume that McGregor’s big ego would take offense after being called up by a fighter who had just suffered a loss, the Dubliner got the news in quite a contrasting way.

In fact, McGregor not only accepted the invitation, but also praised Chandler for his exploits.

Responding to the Tweet, McGregor wrote: ‘I’m sure I’m depressed at some point. Great fight the other night Mike, congrats!

After the epic fight, Chandler met up with Gaethje inside the hospital, as both combatants reviewed his extensive injuries.

Contest winner Gaethje posted a picture on Instagram of the two rivals looking beaten and bruised in hospital, but both fighters were smiling despite the heavy blows they faced.

“All glory to God,” Gaethje headlined in the post. “I wouldn’t leave tonight without a chance to put another strap on Trevor Wittman’s wall.”

Gaethje is now convinced that he is next in line for a title shot against the winner of Charles Oliveria’s clash with Dustin Poirier in December.
