Twitter already allows to receive tips in bitcoin and works to adopt the NFTs in its social network

Bitcoin, Jack Dorsey recently said, would be “a big part” of the company’s future. That future starts now, because Twitter already accepts tips in the form of bitcoin.

The novelty comes after the launch of its ‘Tip Jar’ feature in May of this year, and with it it will be possible to send money in bitcoins to any other Twitter user. The characteristic is rolling out now for iOS users, and it will soon for Android users.

Tips in BTC first, NFTs second

Twitter’s decision is not too surprising: Jack Dorsey has been supporting cryptocurrencies in general and bitcoin in particular for years: he indicated long ago in 2018 that bitcoin would be the only currency of the future.

Now bitcoin becomes an integral part of Twitter thanks to that tipping system that will allow any user to send money with bitcoins to another. The feature works through the service called Strike, a wallet that takes advantage of the Lightning network with which transactions with this cryptocurrency are accelerated.

Users will be able to use existing bitcoin wallets to send and receive those tips, and Twitter will not apply any commission.

On Twitter they also indicated that they are experimenting with a feature that will allow users to authenticate and show your collections of NFT digital assets on this social network.

This could turn Twitter into another platform for the exposure and sale of NFTs than would compete with others like OpenSea or MITO. Although those responsible for this company did not give too many details about the project, they did emphasize that it is another way of supporting creators who develop digital art.
