TV reporter thanks viewer for noticing and informing her cancer

An American television news reporter thanks an eagle-eyed viewer for noticing a lump on her neck and e-mails her to have it checked.

ictoria Price, a reporter for WFLA in Tampa, Florida, followed the advice and was diagnosed with cancer.

Ms. Price tweeted that she will have surgery on Monday to remove the tumor, her thyroid gland, and a few lymph nodes.

she said, “The doctor said it is spreading, but not too much, and we hope this will be my first and last procedure.”

The viewer emailed Mrs. Price last month, saying the lump reminded her of a lump she’d had.

Ms. Price, 28, investigative journalist, said this week that her television station’s slogan is “8 On Your Side.”

But she added, “The roles turned recently when I found a viewer by my side, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

“I’ll be forever grateful to the woman who made me email, a complete stranger. She had no obligation, but she did. Are you talking about being on your side? ‘
