New York City prosecutors convened a special grand jury to examine evidence in a criminal investigation into former US President Donald Trump, local media reports on Tuesday, Xinhua review.
The grand jury recently convened and met three days a week for six months to decide whether Trump should be charged, as detailed by The Washington Post.
According to that information, this new call could assume that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has obtained evidence for a possible allegation to Trump.
However, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has not issued an official statement on events.
In response, Trump said it is a continuation of the “witch hunt.” It is a purely political case driven by highly partisan Democratic prosecutors, As reported by The Hill.
For about two years, Vance has been working on the secret money-related investigation paid to some women on Trump’s behalf, his tax practices, and real estate valuation, among other issues
New York State prosecutors recently expanded their investigation into the Trump Organization into criminal activity. The New York State attorney general has also assigned two attorneys to work with Vance’s office after that.
