Trump now says he will not throw the first pitch on the August 15 Yankees game

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he would not be throwing out the first pitch of a game in the New York Yankees next month.

“Due to my strong focus on the China Virus, including scheduled meetings on vaccines, our economy, and more, I won’t be able to be in New York to throw out the opening pitch for the @Yankees on August 15,” Trump wrote on Twitter . “We’ll make it later in the season!”

The president announced on Thursday that he would throw the first pitch in the August 15 game against the Boston Red Sox, hours before Anthony Fauci, one of the most recognizable figures of the government in his coronavirus reaction, threw the ceremonial first pitch on the occasion of Opening Day for the Washington Nationals.
