Thousands of prescription tablets have been seized during a police operation in East Belfast.
e PSNI discovered thousands of suspected Diazepam tablets on a Saturday afternoon search during Kilbroney House, Greenway. A small amount of herbal cannabis and two mobile phones were also seized.
It followed the interception of a packet destined for the same address, which contained thousands of suspected Pregablin tablets.
A 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of importing a class C drug and attempted to seize it with the intention of supplying a class C controlled drug. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
A PSNI spokesperson said, “Tackling illicit drug delivery and use remains a priority for police and seizures like this demonstrate the continued commitment to removing illicit drugs from society.
“The police would encourage anyone with information on the use or supply of illicit drugs to contact the police on non-emergency number 101 with any information they have.
“Alternatively, information may also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and empowers people to speak out and stop the crime.”
