Thomas Tuchel admitted that “everything is missing” from Chelsea in a telling final interview before he was sacked.

The German was fired on Wednesday morning, the day after Blues was stunned in Zagreb by Croatian champion Dinamo – after which Tuchel delivered a scathing assessment, including self-criticism.

He lamented the ‘same story’ when his side lost for the third time this season in just seven games, and also revealed that he did not see the shocking defeat coming.

He said: ‘I’m mad at myself and mad at our performance. I’m mad at myself for not seeing it coming.

“I was clearly in the wrong movie. I thought the last game helped us. I thought we showed a reaction to a very difficult moment against West Ham, got the reaction, got the result when you need a bit of luck in the situation we were in.

“We had good training, I thought the team was prepared, I thought we knew what it was about. I didn’t see it coming, that’s why I’m mad at myself.’

Tuchel’s 100th game for Chelsea proved to be an opportunity to forget, adding: “There is too much to analyze, I am part of it. We’re clearly not where we need to be and where we can be, so it’s up to me, it’s up to us. Everything is missing at the moment.

“This is a huge underperformance from all of us. It’s not precise enough, not clinical enough, not aggressive enough.

“It’s not determined enough and not enough as a team and that’s why we lost.”

When asked how many players were at the top of their game, Tuchel replied, “Not much at the moment. It’s up to me to find the solution and find the reason.

“Of course they are underperforming individually and I’m not sure exactly where this performance comes from. A lack of determination, a lack of hunger and a lack of intensity to do the things we need at the highest level.

“We are clearly not where we want to be. We expected what we got. It was the same story from the last few games – we started well for 15-20 minutes, but then we lacked determination, precision and maybe we even missed the smell of blood.

“We have to get much better. We’re not done yet, we’re not happy with our results, we’re not happy with the way we’re playing in general, but I thought we were on the right track. I am surprised by this performance’.

When presented to Tuchel, who accused his players of being too easy to beat this season, she cringed against Dinamo after falling behind. it is. You can of course analyze it like that.’
