Former Ryder Cup star Thomas Pieters stood his ground through a chaotic afternoon in Vilamoura to score a final 68 and win the Portugal Masters, and a place in the season-ending DP World Championship.

The Belgian was tied three-way at the top in the final stages, but finished at 19 under par, two shots clear of Matthieu Pavon, Nicolai Hojgaard and Lucas Bjerregaard.
