Brentford boss Thomas Frank has revealed that he would have no qualms about turning his back on management and doing something “more important” if the criticism surrounding the role becomes too much.

The abuse suffered by some managers has been highlighted this week in the wake of Steve Bruce’s departure from Newcastle.

Frank has suffered no such abuse in his three years as Bees boss, having guided them to the Premier League, where they have enjoyed an excellent start to the season.

But the popular Dane, who has a degree in Physical Education, is convinced that if he changed he could easily take a step back and even change his profession.

“It’s so easy these days to criticize the coach. In modern times, it’s part of the job that apparently needs to be criticized if things don’t go your way, ” said Frank, whose host was the host of Leicester on Sunday.

So sometimes you think ‘is it really worth it?’ I love working with people, I love working in soccer. In my career I have had the privilege of working with good people. There are ups and downs. It is hard work. So maybe sometimes I think that there are other things that you should do in your life as well.

‘It’s about being aware of what are the most important things in life. Soccer is important, it means many things to so many people. But there are many other things in life that are much more important.

`` Maybe sometimes I think there are other things you should do in your life too, '' says Frank.

‘It is the same in any profession. If you want to create something special you have to dedicate many hours. It’s that part, plus the pressure, that is second to none compared to any other profession in life or sport, I would say.

‘That’s the combination where you start to think’ are there other interesting things in life that you want to stick with? ‘

‘There is not a single human being, not a single coach, where criticism does not hit you a little bit. I do not think that’s possible. So it’s just how much or how little it affects you.

“I am quite convinced that I have my correct priorities in terms of friends and family in life. And if I don’t do this, I’ll just do even more important work, a school teacher, or work with children.

‘That is more important than the work I am doing now. I think I’ll do something else, I’m convinced of that. ‘
