A new update to Microsoft Teams tries to fix the problem of recognizing unread messages.
The video conferencing platform has announced a new feature that allows users to choose when to view only unread messages in their activity feed.
When enabled, the new addition, titled “Unread Toggle”, means that users are only allowed to see and rate unread items in their feed.

In his entry on the official Microsoft 365 roadmap (opens in new tab)describes that Unread Toggle allows users to “evaluate only unread items on the activity feed easily and efficiently”.
The tool should be incredibly useful for those Microsoft Teams users who juggle multiple threads and chats at once, or who are looking for the latest updates or alerts about a major project or release.
The update is still labeled “in development” for now, but has an expected availability date of November 2022. When released, it will be available to all Microsoft Teams users on desktop and Mac.
The news is the latest in a series of recent releases that aim to make Microsoft Teams easier and more intuitive to use.
The company recently unveiled an update that allows users to track down entire chat conversations after clicking the results of a search message.
The update means that when users search for a chat message in Teams and click on a message result, they will be taken to a view that contains the entire thread of the desired message, rather than just a single line of text as was the case. .
Another recent tweak seems to prevent unwanted Microsoft Teams chats from outside sources, meaning that when receiving a new one-to-one chat from outside their company, users can now accept or block the invitation. Microsoft says this change should also include the ability to block external users at any time, revoking access to presence and incoming messages.
