This one-man eVTOL flies at 102 km / h and looks like something out of a ‘Star Wars’ movie: this is the Jetson ONE

Although there is still a little left for flying cars to be a daily thing, there are many manufacturers and brands that are turning to their development. AirCar, Honda, XPeng, Uber, Lilium and Porsche, to say just a few brands, have projects related to this technology, but the one that concerns us today is the Swiss Jetson and her peculiar Jetson ONE, a one-man eVTOL of the most peculiar.

This eVTOL (electric fast take-off and landing vehicles) has been left see it in action in a video published by the company. As we said, it only has capacity for a single person and, from what we can see from the images, it is the closest thing to a ‘Star Wars’ hovercraft that we have seen to date. By the way, it’s not cheap: $ 92,000 and limited production.

How to play a video game

The Jetson ONE is an eVTOL whose price, as indicated, is 92,000 US dollars that is shipped partially assembled. According to the manufacturer, more or less half is assembled and a mounting kit arrives at home to finish it us. “It contains everything you need, from the aluminum frame to the motor controllers, propellers and motors. You will also receive detailed construction instructions,” they say from the company.

The device has been in development for many years. The proof of concept was completed in 2018 and it has not been until now that the company has managed to develop a model designed for the consumer. According to Jetson, the Jetson ONE is a commercial electric and personal aerial vehicle that “you can own and fly.”

The vehicle measures 2.8 x 2.4 x 1.03 meters, making it relatively compact. In fact, the company claims that you can park without problem in the garden, on a terrace or in a private airport. It weighs 90 kilos and can accommodate one person. According to the company, it has a maximum power 88 kW (which are the equivalent of 118 hp) and eight propellers mounted on four arms. Jetson claims that we can keep flying even if one of the engines dies.

The dashboard is the most interesting. As if it were a driving video game, we have a joystick, a pair of pedals and the brake. It seems very simple, at least in the images. There is a screen similar to that of a mobile that gives us information such as speed and, presumably, the status of the battery.

This, precisely, is one of its weakest points. With a person weighing 85 kilos on board, the device is only able to last 15 minutes in the air, a somewhat low figure even for intercity or leisure trips (the full charge will probably take a long time to complete). As for the speed, it is limited by software to 102 kilometers per hour

Your price: $ 92,000

The Jetson ONE is priced at $ 92,000. To buy it, you need a $ 22,000 deposit that reserves a gap for us in production. The 2022 production (12 units) is already complete and, from what we can see on the web, it seems that there are only three gaps left by 2023.
