These are the tech professions most remote workers are looking for: in software development, telecommuting is here to stay
Technology professionals are in luck: in their sector teleworking seems to have come to stay, at least for new hires. And is that the remote job offers that are proliferating the most as a result of the pandemic are related to information and communication technologies (ICT) and, very especially, with the development of software in its multiple areas, as several human resources companies have explained to Engadget.
Thus, the consulting firm Robert Walters points out that as a result of the pandemic, the number of job offers that began to include a few telework days a week increased exponentially, and currently they would account for around 80% of the job proposals in the technology sector offered in Spain. And of them, almost half would be completely remote. Information very similar to that shared by Adecco and LinkedIn.
DevOps, software engineers and devs FrontEnd and BackEnd, the ones that grow the most remotely
Among the developers, the three companies agree that the profiles for which the remote options have increased the most are DevOps engineers, software engineers, and FrontEnd and BackEnd developers.
For Adecco, and according to the offers they have handled around the world, the technology profession in which the demand for remote employees increased the most was DevOps engineer, with an increase of 166% as a result of the pandemic, followed by software engineers (110% increase) and Java developer (100% increase). Other highly demanded remote positions are web developer (100% increase) and SAP consultant (60% increase).
The LinkedIn data, on the other hand, indicates that the technological profession with the most remote job offers was that of software engineer, followed by Full Stack engineer and FrontEnd developer, although they do not offer concrete figures. The professional social network also highlights Android and iOS developers and project managers on its list of ten most in-demand remote jobs.
The spokespersons for these work companies have explained to Engadget that the increase in remote offers has been motivated by the pandemic, but it will not be temporary. They point out that many companies have learned that they can have their workers remotely and still produce the same, especially in professions related to the digital field, so they predict that many will maintain a flexible work model remote first.
However, they also do not want to throw bells on the fly, because they also they are aware that some companies are going to start to decline in their labor flexibility, especially as of autumn, when the pandemic could be controlled. These companies, they explain, are going to offer hybrid models, but with a higher office load than teleworking.
Therefore, they recommend that professionals read the conditions of the contract very well before signing it, to ensure that a remote job offer in August 2021 does not turn into a return to the office in January 2022.
Spain, in the line of the West
The three human resources companies point out that the figures for remote offers for ICT professionals in Spain are similar to those of many other Western countries. The international market is also betting on teleworking in the technology sector, which, according to what they point out, can open new opportunities to Spanish workers abroad without leaving home and make the salaries of the sector in our country more competitive.
At the international level, the most demanded positions have to do with software engineering. And the companies that most encourage this foreign market remotely, due to the number of vacancies they have open, are some of the big technology companies, such as Amazon or Oracle, as we already have in Engadget. The ‘big tech’ are looking, above all, for solution architects, operations and support engineers and consultants, in addition to the aforementioned software engineers.
