The Minnesota governor signs a bill banning neck supports

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz is expected to sign a police accountability bill on Thursday that includes a neck restraint ban, such as the one used on George Floyd before his death in Minneapolis.

The bill, passed by the legislator earlier this week it also bans chokeholds and so-called warrior-style training, which critics say promotes excessive strength. It imposes an obligation to intervene with agents who see a colleague with excessive force.

The bill also amends the rules on using violence to emphasize the sanctity of life and changes the arbitration rules that affect police unions.
