The first horror short written by an AI: a copy of ‘Saw’ so funny and absurd that it even has police whales
The field of the artificial intelligence It has left us with some very interesting innovations. We have seen this technology remastering 100-year-old movies, summarizing books, programming and even reconstructing frames, not to mention its role as the writer and producer of ‘Sunspring’, the Ross Goodwin short written entirely by an AI.
What artificial intelligence is capable of when it is well trained can be spectacular, but also a lot of fun. The proof of this is’Mr. Puzzles Wants You To Be Less Alive‘, a horror short published by Netflix on the’ Netflix is a Joke ‘channel that has been written by an AI after having “watched” 400,000 hours of scary movies. It has no waste.
The bad guy: a doll who rides a unicycle with three wheels
For this movie, Netflix has worked with Keaton Patti (American writer, actor and comedian). In the field of artificial intelligence and culture, he is known for the script of a mini-story included in the comic ‘The Amazing Spider-Man # 25’, which was written by a bot developed by him and which he trained with all the comics. Spider-Man published to date.
From here there are spoilers for the short.
In ‘Mr. Puzzles Wants You To Be Less Alive ‘, translated into Spanish as ‘Mr. Puzles wants to see you less alive’ we witness the tragic story of Jennifer, a “woman who has external beauty and internal blood” who wakes up hanging on a chair pit with blades and chainsaws. Too bad, she should be at “sexy summer camp,” she says.
When he realizes what is happening, our villain, Mr. Puzles, appears, a decaf replica of Jigsaw wearing a “made in hell or Texas” mask and riding a three-wheeled unicycle. Mr. Puzles, what asks Jennifer if she wants to be a gamerShe knows that Jennifer is called Jennifer because she has a body and all Jennifer have bodies.
Absurd? Without a doubt, but it is even more so if we take into account that these two previous paragraphs describe what happens in the first 30 seconds of the short.
During the four minutes that Jennifer has to face some puzzlesLike taking an antidote to chainsaw chairs (spoiler: you can’t because the antidote is a ghost) or saving your co-worker, who dies after being shot by sharp skates.
The funniest thing of all is that every time Jennifer fails a puzzle, Mr. Puzzles says “Consequences” and stabs a button that ends in a fateful outcome. Luckily, a “drunk and sober-bewitched” detective appears who, unfortunately, sets off a trap that causes a whale to fall on him.
However, everything works out. Despite what you might expect from a person who has been dropped by a whale, the detective stands up and reveals the twist we all expected: the whale is an underwater policeman. They both manage to catch the bad guy and everything ends in a happy ending. Or not.
Mr. Puzzles is not dead.
Both protagonists are tied to giant skittles to which a bowling ball with knives is directed. Luckily, the detective has brought reinforcements: a shower of whales that hits the building, saving our protas from inevitable death and filling everything with “terrifying dust.”
You are safe. Sure? No, because Jennifer, who has sat in the chair with chainsaws, receives a text message. Mr. Puzles strikes again: Jennifer has failed the fifth puzzle when sitting on the chair, which is now activated again. The short ends with Jennifer screaming and a hook that, hopefully, resolves into ‘Mr. Puzzles Wants You To Be Less Alive 2 ‘.
