AS BOYS TEENAGERS FIND IT DIFFICULT TO PROJECT INTO THE FUTURE AND MAKE CHOICES IN THE DIRECTION. THIS IS NOT INEVITABLE. YOU WILL GET SOME KEYS TO HELP YOUR TEEN CHOOSE A FUTURE.
Professor Marcel Rufo: It is true that teenagers live in the present and the near future, while parents only talk about the past (“When I was that old …”) and the future (“You have to do a good study”). However, Marie Choquet notes that 60% of them have a future project – which isn’t necessarily a guarantee of success! Especially since almost a third of those who have a future project have already changed. That is a good sign for me. That means they can have different desires and adapt.
In my view, the child who quits the piano or changes sports is often a child who is doing well. Whoever gets in the wrong is the one who trains to get a conservatoire first prize or the one who pursues a sport in hopes of becoming an international player, which he probably never will be. Curiosity, dreaming, wanting to discover and conquer are signs of good mental health. Conquering a dream is more important than anything.
