The Sugar Republic team was delighted to welcome people to their magical space on November 6 – the temporary exhibition is expected to last until the New Year
FEMAIL got the chance to visit the spectacular hideout before it opened to the public and it didn’t disappoint.
Despite being hidden in a backstreet in the maze-like streets of The Rocks, the Sugar Republic warehouse is easy to find.
On the outside of the period sandstone building is a wall filled with bright rainbow garlands, an idea of what to expect inside.
The marshmallow pool is one of the most popular attractions of the Sugar Republic pop-up
The human gumball machine is also very popular with guests of all ages
Once inside, visitors are led down a foil-wrapped hallway to the ‘pool room’.
Most of the space is a huge pool filled with ‘giant marshmallows’, and the only way to get there is down a red fire truck slide.
Also on the bottom floor of the warehouse is Bill and Jill’s parlor, a dress up bar inspired by the popular gum-nose ice creams.

Sugar Republic was founded in 2018 by Mrs. Jones and Paul Matthews, when they established their first pop-up candyland experience in Victoria.
They were considering launching a sweet-themed company together and took the plunge when they saw the iconic MacRobertson’s factory, the birthplace of the Cherry Ripe and Freddo, for rent.
Since then they’ve had pop-ups in Australia and have a sugar-inspired AirnBnB in Daylesford, Victoria.
