Seven people were injured when a driver apparently lost control of his car and pedestrians entered the German capital, authorities said.
he incident happened on Berlin’s Hardenbergplatz, outside the Zoological Garden station, shortly after 7 am on Sunday.
The Berlin fire brigade said on Twitter that three of the pedestrians were seriously injured and a rescue helicopter was deployed to assist.
One victim had to be resuscitated on the spot, the fire brigade said.
Police said the driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway, but the accident appears to have been caused by excessive speed and that there is currently “no evidence of political or religious motivation.”
