Samsung announces the new Galaxy Watch 3 with ECG tracking, drop detection, titanium finish and more
After months in the rumor mill, Samsung has now announced its new Galaxy Watch 3 – the company’s next-generation smartwatch. This time, Samsung is making two finishes available for the Galaxy Watch 3: stainless steel and titanium. The latter offers more durability in combination with a rotating bezel design for navigation purposes.

The Galaxy Watch 3 has been leaked extensively in all its glory, and the watch offers more than what has been leaked. Here is a complete overview of the main features you can look forward to.
Display and design
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy Watch 3’s design is not much different from its predecessor. It offers a round screen with a rotating ring for operations. Combined with high-quality leather, the stainless steel model complements an elegant look. The Galaxy Watch 3 is 14 percent thinner, 8 percent smaller, and 15 percent lighter compared to the original Galaxy Watch. The screen is 360 x 360 Super AMOLED, Always-On, Gorilla Glass, so it is durable and sturdy. The Galaxy Watch is 5ATM plus IP68 certified, so it is dust and water resistant.
The new Galaxy Watch 3 from Samsung offers a smooth navigation system, the rotating bezel that you can perform to control various functions of the watch. You can switch between widgets, browse and access apps, browse notifications and more. The rotating ring also allows you to control the music playing on your phone.
In terms of internals, you get 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, and it works on Samsung’s Exynos 9110, a dual-core CPU with 1.15 GHz. It runs Titen based portable OS version 5.5. As for connectivity, it includes Bluetooth 5.0, GPS. In terms of battery life, the Galaxy Watch 3 has a 340 mAh battery in the 45 mm and 247 mAh battery in the 41 mm variant.
Watch faces and personalization
There are over 80,000 watch faces to choose from in the Galaxy Store and if you want to be creative you can always design your own. With 40 different complications, you can customize the watch to your preferences and needs, with the most relevant information. You can even customize watch faces to match your clothes.
Health and fitness
In terms of health and fitness, the Galaxy Watch 3 has improved significantly. Blood oxygen tracking can measure and record oxygen saturation over time, allowing you to compare and contrast your health over time. The Health Monitor app now includes blood pressure monitoring and electrocardiogram or ECG measurements. This makes the Galaxy Watch 3 a direct competitor to the latest Apple Watch models. The Galaxy Watch can also detect traps, allowing it to send an SOS notification to your selected contacts. This is another feature inherited from the Apple Watch.
For fitness trackers, the Galaxy Watch 3 adds running analysis that allows you to read real-time feedback when running. You will also receive six-factor reports after training. You also have the option to track your cardio progress as you can read VO2 max readings so you can analyze your oxygen intake.
Samsung Health offers 120 video workouts that you can select from your Galaxy smartphone and cast it to your Samsung Smart TV, the Galaxy Watch 3 will do the rest. The watch is also equipped with sleep recording and management. With the new sleep score and insights, you can sleep better and wake up.
Miscellaneous and release
Other features include automatic reply options for messages and images. You can also view and comment on photos and emoticons. The gestures include balancing and balancing your fists to receive a call, mute alarms, and rotate calls by turning your wrists. LTE models of the Galaxy Watch 3 are also available so you can just leave your phone at home.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is available in three color options: Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black and Mystic Silver. The Titanium model is only available in Mystic Black.
