Resident Evil Village, the eighth editorial in Capcom’s survival horror series, recently underwent an Ambassador play test and new details about the game emerged online.
A new report posted on Biohazard released revealed some new details about the game, such as enemies, which look and sound horrible, and location.
The enemies in these areas are very pale, almost rotten skin, with tattoos on their foreheads and hands. Some with armor, but not like knight armor, that can also be shot. They speak in this test only of “normal” enemy types, not of the “werewolf” -like creatures we spoke of, and that was shown in the trailer.
They do speak in a distorted foreign language. Some carried daggers, swords, axes and even spears. There are some without armed weapons. They jump and grab and bite similar to Resident Evil 3, and you can press buttons to take less damage. Some enemies throw you to the ground instead of biting. The one with the sword has a special attack that Ethan can immediately behead. And according to the source, you recognize the move as soon as you play the game.
Most of the rooms were bright, but some of the bedrooms were dark. The segment was located at a higher level somewhere in the castle and you had to find a key to open a large door downstairs.
Some new details about a Resident Evil Village boss fight have also emerged. The fight against Olga will include a good mix of stealth and shooting.
When she opened the door, the lady in black named Olga appeared and released a swarm of insects. The player does not have to fight the insects unless she sees Ethan. She was constantly smiling when she saw him.
In this boss fight, players took a torch to use fire to scare her insects to expose Olga to shoot her. After a bit of shooting, she transforms into this insect / arachnid creature with long spider legs, releasing more insects to emerge from her insect-like bottom. Her human remains are still there, but naked and covered in black blob. After the defeat, she melted and some parts of the skeletons that were under the blob were left behind and she dropped an object. She has also released all her bugs, where the player will find and kill them to prevent them from attacking you in certain rooms. Then the demo ended.
The playtest session ended with a conversation with producer Peter Fabiano, who revealed that the game may experience an unfair difficulty level with tripling the number of enemies. In addition, he also confirmed that a Resident Evil Village VR version will take place, but the announcement will not be made until Sony is ready, suggesting a possible announcement of a new PlayStation VR headset.
Resident Evil Village will be launched on a date to be confirmed. A new trailer is coming sometime next month.
