Rangers, Hurricanes are starting the NHL reboot with an incredible combination of target fights

Yes, hockey is indeed back.

The Rangers and Hurricanes immediately brought excitement to the Stanley Cup qualifying on Saturday afternoon, the first official game of the restart of the NHL. Jaccob Slavin of Carolina scored a minute and a second in the matchup after a nice cross-ice pass from Teuvo Teravainen.

(Fun fact: Slavin is the first player to score in NHL in August.)

Then, less than two minutes later, Justin Williams and Ryan Strome decided to throw hands near the New York bank. So much for going back in things.

If you wanted intense action on the ice, the Rangers and Hurricanes ticked every box for the first 20 minutes. Just view the statistics from the period:

Keep in mind that Rangers vs. Hurricanes is just the beginning of Saturday’s five game series.

As they say in hockey, let’s do hockey.
