Sergio Ramos will finally start training for Paris Saint-Germain next week in an attempt to end his nightmare spell on the treatment table.

The Spanish defender has yet to appear on Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG since he joined the French giants in a free transfer from Real Madrid over the summer.

This week marked six months since Ramos’ last competitive appearance in the game, a Champions League semi-final loss to Chelsea on May 5, with the 35-year-old suffering from a calf problem over the summer.

But PSG confirmed in this week’s medical report that Ramos will join his PSG teammates next week, meaning he is likely to make his French club debut at home to Nantes on 20 November.

It also means that the 35-year-old could be available for PSG’s Champions League clash in Manchester City four days later, in what would be his European debut for the club.

Ramos signed a two-year deal believed to be worth around £ 250,000 a week, meaning the Spaniard has raised £ 4 million from PSG without kicking a single ball for them.

Their unavailability frustrates PSG bosses and reports in France claimed earlier this week that they are considering breaking Ramos’ contract.

The French outlet Le Parisien has claimed PSG would be willing to let the central defender leave the club if his fitness problems continue to hamper his selection chances.

The club reportedly feels it made a mistake signing the 35-year-old and is now contemplating his next move.

However, they would first have to reach an agreement with Ramos before they could break his contract.

Meanwhile, Ramos is not the only one absent from PSG ahead of this weekend’s clash in Bordeaux, as Lionel Messi has been ruled out as his knee and hamstring issues have yet to be resolved.

The French giants confirmed that the Argentine continued his rehabilitation at the Ooredoo Training Center on Friday morning.

Messi was withdrawn at halftime of PSG’s slim win over Lille on October 29 and did not participate in the club’s Champions League draw in Leipzig earlier this week.

Pochettino, meanwhile, will be without midfielders Leandro Paredes, Marco Verratti and Rafinha this weekend, meaning they are likely to return after the international break.

Center-back Presnel Kimpembe will spend the next ten days receiving treatment for a hamstring injury, making him a doubt for the first second leg after the international break.
