Sporting Lisbon beat 10-man Borussia Dortmund 3-1 on Wednesday with two goals from Pedro Goncalves to clinch their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League and eliminate the Germans from the competition.
Goncalves scored twice in the first half to lead his team to their 10th consecutive win in all competitions and nine points in Group C, three ahead of the Germans with one game to play and a better head-to-head, after losing. 1-0 at Dortmund in September.

Dortmund, without injured striker Erling Haaland, tried desperately to counterattack in the second half, but Emre Can was sent off in the 74th minute before conceding a third goal by Pedro Porro seven minutes later.
Dortmund, who scored in injury time through Donyell Malen, will enter the Europa League as third place in the group. Ajax Amsterdam secured first place with a 2-1 win over last Besiktas, their fifth win in five games.
