Ori Developer Moon Studios partners with the private division for a multiplatform action RPG

Since their inception, developer Moon Studios has been associated with Xbox as they have produced both Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps for Microsoft. Well, it looks like the talented team is branching out a bit, as they’ve announced they’re working on a new action RPG that will be published by Take-Two Interactive, Private Division’s indie label.

Ori and the likes of the slim file size and performance list revealed

This is what co-founders of Moon Studios Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol talked about the new venture with Private Division

Developing the Ori series over the past decade has been a fantastic experience for our team, and we’re excited to now turn our attention even higher with a new action RPG. We attribute our success to the ‘iterative polish’ process we use at Moon Studios, and we continue that style of development to create a new game that is beyond anything we’ve made so far.

Definitely a bit surprising to see Moon Studios step outside the Xbox bubble, but Microsoft hasn’t locked them out so it’s all fair game. I suspect Moon Studios would like to have more control over the IP address they then create, hence the partnership with Private Division.

Moon Studios is not the only new partnership announced by Private Division – they will also publish an “ambitious” project from Armello developer League of Geeks and a new “great, flow state game” from OlliOlli creators Roll7.

Private Division has not announced specific platforms or release windows for these new projects, just says they won’t launch until Take-Two’s fiscal year 2022 (which runs from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022). So what do you think? Wondering what these studios are working on now?
