OnePlus confirms that there will be no OnePlus 9T: the tradition that was maintained since 2016 is broken

Perhaps it was the shortage of chips, or perhaps the new strategic situation of OnePlus and OPPO within the BBK group. The truth is that this year we will not have OnePlus 9T, something that the OnePlus managers themselves have officially confirmed.

This is somewhat surprising when you consider that for the last few years – with that 3T as the first representative – we had seen those announcements of the “T” versions in the fall after the introduction of the flagships in the spring. This year it won’t be like that, and in 2022 we will see new high-end products with the unification of OxygenOS and ColorOS.

In 2021 it only touches a OnePlus flagship

Although there will be no successor with that surname “T” for the OnePlus 9, what it does seem is that this manufacturer will launch “other devices” on the market. According to XDA-Developers they are probably referring to the OnePlus 9RT, an iteration of the OnePlus 9R that dropped a notch in performance and price compared to its older brothers.

In an interview with Pete Lau to various media, the CEO of OnePlus stressed that the 2022 flagship will be based on that new unified operating system that will combine the best of OxygenOS with OPPO’s ColorOS.

This unification is expected to be completed in June 2022, and that this will allow software updates to be more frequent and accessible to more models from both manufacturers. OPPO announced a few days ago that The OnePlus 9 will receive a beta version of the new system in October.
