Mother, 36, who ate eight bags of chips a DAY during lockdown, drops 5th

A mother who spent the first lockdown eating unhealthy snacks lost five kilos after seeing the first photos she took with her newborn son.

Alexandra Bave, 36, from Woking, Surrey, was heartbroken at the first photos with her son, Jackson, after noticing how much weight she’d gained during the initial lockdown last year.

She had eaten eight packets of crisps and 15 ice cubes and drank two liters of Coca-Cola a day and six months after giving birth Alexandra was 16th 12lbs, her heaviest weight.

After ditching junk food for a low-calorie diet, Alexandra — who has three children with her partner aged 12 Dan, 35 — has slimmed down from a size 18 to a size 10 and is more confident than ever.

Six months after giving birth, Alexandra hit the scales at 16th 12lbs - her heaviest weight.

“I knew I had to love the photo because it was a special day in my life, but I hated it,” she said.

“The self-loathing of the way I looked took away all the positive emotions that came with that photo.”

Alexandra, who has children Ethan, 8, Devon, 5, and Jackson now 16 months old, said she tried to enjoy her youngest’s first Christmas but couldn’t stop thinking about her weight.

She said: ‘I tried not to let my negative thoughts about myself take over the festivities, but when I brought in an XXL Christmas outfit that didn’t fit, I knew I had to do something.

“My two boys started to say, ‘Look at mommy’s belly’, so enough was enough.

“I’ve made it my New Year’s resolution to lose five stones. I wanted to feel good about myself and lose weight to be healthy for the kids.

“I didn’t want to be the fat mother any longer.”

However, the day Alexandra started Cambridge Weight Plan’s 1:1 Diet, the UK went into lockdown for a third time – a trigger that had caused Alexandra to pile on her pounds during pregnancy.

She said: ‘Eight packets of crisps, 15 ice cubes and two liters of Coca-Cola a day was my way through the first lockdown.

“Eating was my only consolation, but I was binge eating.

‘I was so busy homeschooling my two children and I was also heavily pregnant.

“I didn’t care about myself or realize how much I was gaining weight.”

“My blood pressure shot up and the hospital was my second home for fear I had preeclampsia, but I couldn’t have visitors, so I spent the time eating unhealthy snacks.”

Once home, Alexandra continued to gain weight and struggled with loneliness during the second lockdown.

She said, “Lockdown was isolating enough because my family lives in Italy.
