Mo Salah is ‘extremely selfish’, claims Graeme Souness as he urges Liverpool to fix the contract issue
The ‘greedy’ Mo Salah is ‘the most selfish player I have ever seen’, says Graeme Souness as he urges Liverpool to give their Egyptian star ‘everything they can’ to resolve their contractual situation
- Graeme Souness has praised Mohamed Salah for being ‘greedy’ and ‘selfish’
- Souness agreed that Liverpool’s Salah is currently the best player in the world.
- He added that the Reds should give Salah what he wants to fix the contract problem.
Graeme Souness has offered his typical compliment by praising Mohamed Salah as “extremely selfish”, but also as a “goal machine” that Liverpool must do everything possible to secure a new contract.
The former Liverpool midfielder accepted the opinion of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp that Salah is currently the best player in the world, and the Egyptian has brilliantly scored seven goals in eight Premier League games this season.
His goals have been at the heart of Liverpool’s resurgence this season after a shaky last season, and Salah will arguably be the biggest threat on the field in Sunday’s derby against Manchester United.
Graeme Souness has called Liverpool star Mohamed Salah ‘the most selfish player I have ever seen’
“ I agree with Jurgen Klopp that Mohamed Salah has been the best player in the world this season, ” Souness wrote in his column for The times.
Maybe he’s as greedy a gamer as I’ve seen him. All the big names have an element of it, but he’s extremely selfish.
Personal goals are important to him and he shoots from every possible angle, frustrating his teammates at times, especially Mane. The other players accept him because he is very good. ‘
Far from being his usual critical self, Souness praised Salah’s attitude, saying that his supposed selfishness actually ends.
Salah is in electric form for Liverpool, scoring seven goals in eight Premier League games
“ When he doesn’t add up, he’s scoring or having goalkeepers work to make the follow-up a touch for someone anyway, making it difficult for anyone to criticize him.
“It may even be taken as a compliment that I think he is the most selfish player I have ever seen because he is a scoring machine.”
Salah’s future in Liverpool has been the subject of intense debate for some time. The star has 20 months left on his contract with the Reds, but has yet to agree on new terms at Anfield.
The 29-year-old recently said in an interview that ‘he would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can’t say much about that, it’s not in my hands.’ It depends on what the club wants. ‘
Liverpool fans are waiting to see if the club’s owners will offer Salah an excellent deal.
It is widely recognized that Liverpool will need to make Salah the highest paid player in their history and talks between his agent and the club will continue.
From Souness’s perspective, the Reds should pay Salah whatever he wants to secure his incredible talent for longer.
“I’m not going to speculate what he’s asking for, but Liverpool should give it to him.”
“They are interested in paying him everything they can afford and also that Salah stays at the club where he has clearly had the best stage of his career.”
