Mexico, Andrea Meza, takes the crown of Miss Universe 2021

MIAMI, Florida – After a one-year hiatus, through to Sunday night in Hollywood, Florida, the thrilling 69th edition of Miss Universe was held, where Miss Mexico, Andrea Meza of Chihuahua, became the new universal queen.

This is the third Mexican Miss Universe; the first was Lupita Jones (Baja California) and the second, Ximena Navarrete (Jalisco). Lupita Jones won in 1991 and Ximena Navarrete in 2010.

After seven long years, the coveted Miss Universe crown finally returned to a Latina woman.

The lucky queen managed to show off from the start.

The gala began with the election of the 21 semi-finalists, one selected by the votes of the public, and the other 20, previously elected by eight judges, all women, including former Boricua university member, Zuleyka Rivera.

This first group paraded in bathing suits and from there the jury chose the Top 10, which they modeled in a dress.

Minutes later one of the exciting moments of the evening came, the selection of the five finalists. They had to answer questions from the jury, which determined which positions they would remain in at the end of the match.

And so finally, with the romantic and talented voice of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, we could enjoy the last parade of the evening before meeting the new Miss Universe.
