Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly set to discuss with agent Mino Raiola about a possible deal for Ajax prospect Ryan Gravenberch.

The 19-year-old’s current contract with Ajax expires in the summer of 2023 and Raiola is eager for him to remain at the Dutch club.

As reported by Mirror, United and Liverpool see the Dutch international as an option to make them stronger in midfield.

A product of the famed Ajax academy, Gravenberch has made 74 senior appearances for the club so far.

Gravenberch has been caps for the Netherlands nine times and was part of his country’s team at Euro 2020.

Ajax are preparing to offer Gravenberch a new deal as they look to ease uncertainty about his future.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still looking for the most effective combination in midfield and may have to enter the transfer market to solve the problem.

Meanwhile, Liverpool would also benefit from having an additional option in midfield following the transfer of Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

United have a difficult relationship with Raiola, who previously criticized Solskjaer for his handling of Paul Pogba.

In March, Raiola expressed his frustration with United and stated that he would not be upset if he did not supervise another player joining the club again.

He said The athletic: ‘With Mr. Ferguson or [Pep] Guardiola, I have this problem – and I think it is changing now – that (they believe) we must submit to them because if not, tomorrow, you will not make a player with Manchester United.

I don’t give a damn if I never do with another player with Manchester United. I am not in their hands. I’m independent. We have only one game that we take care of: our players. And as long as our players like us, you do what you have to do. ‘

United tried to sign Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, but the deal did not materialize and Raiola’s demands hampered the move.
