Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Erik ten Hag would be a good fit for the club following his success at Ajax.

The Ajax coach has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Solskjaer, although he has not been as hyped as Zinedine Zidane or Brendan Rodgers.

However, Ferdinand believes that the Dutchman’s success at Ajax indicates that he could be a good fit at Old Trafford.
The former England defender told his FIVE Youtube channel: ‘For any coach entering a new club, it’s almost like you have to show people why you’re there right away.
‘I use Antonio Conte as a good point of reference for that. Every time he joins a new club, there is no negotiable and he tells them, ‘this is what is happening, this is what I am, if you are not with me, you can go.’
“I think that’s the kind of attitude and the kind of mindset that separates good managers from top managers.
Ten Hag has won two Dutch titles and has led them to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019
‘You have to be able to go in there and command a whole dressing room full of egos, great personalities, great characters. That’s the job of anyone who walks in.
“Now I don’t know Ten Hag personally, but he is doing a fantastic job at Ajax.
‘Let’s remember that Ajax is not a small club. It’s a huge club, the biggest club in the Netherlands.
“Yes, it’s different and the outlook is different, but it’s still a great club that you have to work with and the expectation levels there every day are to win.
“That is something that will be there every day and would be there if he came to Manchester United.

‘Anyone who comes in has to be able to deal with people. That’s the art of a fantastic coach. ‘
Ferdinand’s comments come after he previously said on his YouTube channel that his former teammate should ‘turn over the baton’ at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag has been Ajax coach since December 2017 and has guided them to two Eredivisie championships.
He also led Ajax to the semi-finals of the Champions League during the 2018-19 season, where they were defeated by eventual runner-up Tottenham.
