Harry Maguire has criticized claims that there has been a locker room division at Manchester United and has offered to support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following Sunday’s humiliating 5-0 loss to rival Liverpool.

Reports of disharmony in the dressing room have emerged in the wake of their crushing defeat to their biggest rivals at Old Trafford on Sunday.

There were suggestions that Paul Pogba, who was sent off in the game, snubbed the Manchester United manager after the game. While an anonymous player questioned the coach’s call to make Harry Maguire captain of the team.

Speaking to Norway’s TV2, Maguire has come out and expressed that the team is still unified despite the turmoil from the Red Devils in recent weeks.

He said: ‘In the two and a half years that I have been here, I have noticed that when we lose a football game there is a lot of talk. Most of it is not true.

“The mood is that we are disappointed and hurt. We are footballers who play at the highest level. We know what the requirements are in this club. We have a lot of experience, a lot of leaders and a lot of people who say what they want to say.

‘You see little pieces here and there, but you try to avoid reading things. When you’ve had an ugly loss to your rival, Liverpool, I don’t think the main focus is reading reports where you see these rumors.

‘I know from my experience at this club that when you lose matches there are always rumors about what happens in the dressing room, but most of it is not true. We have a strong and unified wardrobe. We are in this together and we move forward together. ‘

The man who has been questioned the most after the game is Solskjaer, with United only scoring one point in their last four games.

United suffered a loss to Aston Villa and a draw to Everton, both at home, before falling in a 4-2 loss to Leicester before their surprising loss to Liverpool.

An anonymous United player is said to have questioned Solskjaer for giving Maguire the captain’s armband.

When asked if Solskjaer is a good man to have at Manchester United, the English international replied: ‘Yes, of course.

“Ole has played for this club for many years and has been the manager for three years. He knows what to expect and I’m sure he can handle the ups and downs. You know what’s going on in this club.

‘That [defeat against Liverpool] Of course, it was a disappointment for him, but it was a disappointment for everyone involved in this club. Everyone looks at themselves and where they can improve, that also applies to me.

“The most important thing is to improve individually and unite as a team. We are strong guys with good team spirit and we stick together. We were disappointed on Sunday and we know it, so we have to improve ”.

Maguire himself has been hit after recent defeats to Leicester and Liverpool.

Maguire has struggled to replicate his Euro 2020 exhibitions with England for United this season.

The center-back injured his ankle before Euro 2020, but returned midway through the tournament and was one of England’s star players when he reached the final, where he was beaten on penalties by Italy.

However, the 28-year-old has still been able to replicate that form for United this season, something that has been said about Maguire in the past after his outstanding performances for England.

When asked about his own lack of form, he said: ‘I’ve struggled to find a rhythm. I’m my biggest critic, so I know when I’m playing well, and when I’m not playing well, I’m always looking for ways to improve myself. ‘

“I had been injury free for a long time, then I injured my ankle a lot. I came back and played a difficult European championship, and this season I have had some shots that have led me to struggle to find a rhythm. ”
