Man arrested after thousands of Diazepam tablets found in East Belfast

A 33-year-old man was arrested after police discovered thousands of suspected Diazepam tablets in a house in east Belfast.

Olice searched the grounds at Kilbroney House, Greenway, on Saturday when they found the tablets along with a small amount of herbal cannabis and two cell phones.

The search followed the interception of a package destined for the same address, which contained thousands of suspected Pregabalin tablets.

The man was arrested on suspicion of importing a class C drug and attempted to obtain possession with the intention of supplying a class C controlled drug. He was released on bail pending further investigation.

A police spokesman said, “Tackling the illegal supply and use of drugs remains a priority for the police and such seizures demonstrate the continued commitment to removing illicit drugs from society.

“The police would encourage anyone who has information on the use or supply of illicit drugs to contact the police on non-emergency number 101 with any information they have.

“Alternatively, information may also be provided to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
