Brighton manager Graham Potter has called Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah ‘out of this world class’ as his Seagulls team prepares to face the star in Premier League form this weekend.

Potter’s team faces the daunting task of visiting Anfield on Saturday, with the Reds and Salah in brilliant form.

Salah’s hat-trick in Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of Manchester United last weekend saw the Egyptian score for the 10th straight game in all competitions and bring his season tally to 15 goals.

When asked how to stop the 29-year-old, Potter said: ‘That’s a very good question. At the moment it is not world class, it is an out of this world class! He’s also producing in all the big games: Chelsea, Manchester City, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester United.

But, unfortunately for us, it is not only him who is a great Liverpool player. It’s a team. These top teams have wonderful individual players, but they are also a unit and a team and we should try to deal with that. ”

Potter’s team faced that last season, winning 1-0 at Anfield to break Liverpool’s long undefeated Premier League record spanning 68 matches.

That victory came in an empty stadium as soccer continued to feel the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Brighton boss knows his team faces the difficult task of repeating that feat when he returns to Anfield.

“Everything is possible, of course, but it is the most challenging football environment there is. Anfield with a crowd is a completely different animal, I would suggest, than it is without it, ” Potter said.

“ You need everything to go your way if you want to try to get a result at Anfield. You have to be perfect yourselves, you have to be together, you have to be resilient and play at such a high level and then you have to hope that they too have a bad day. Because while we are in the same league, we are not at the same level as them.

“We can learn and use that experience last season, but I would suggest that we will have to intensify it again.”

Potter confirmed that Dan Burn will miss the Liverpool match. The great defender suffered a heavy fall and injured his knee during the Carabao Cup defeat in Leicester on Wednesday night.

“He has been scanned and will not be available to Anfield,” Potter said. ‘We don’t know the full scope yet, we are still waiting.

It’s your knee. It doesn’t feel too bad this morning, but we’re just waiting for the results of the scan. ‘

Yves Bissouma will be available after his appearance as a substitute in the cup after more than a month off due to his knee problem.
