Liverpool suffered a major injury with the news that Roberto Firmino suffered “a serious hamstring injury” in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Atlético de Madrid.

The Brazilian international was forced to retire in the 45th minute of the Champions League tie against the Spanish champions.

Coach Jurgen Klopp said: ‘Bobby is not good news with a serious hamstring injury, really unfortunate.

“We do not know exactly how long he will be out, but he will not be now after the international break directly.” We have to work on that. ‘

And speaking at his press conference on Friday, Klopp added that he expects Firmino to be out for “more than four weeks.”

It is Firmino’s second hamstring problem of the season, after being hampered by a similar problem earlier in the season in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Naby Keita, James Milner, Curtis Jones and Joe Gomez are also absent for Sunday’s clash against West Ham in the Premier League.
