Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool supporters to show their appreciation for former player Adam Lallana when the playmaker returns to Anfield with Brighton.
The 33-year-old Lallana will return to his old club this afternoon for the Premier League clash, having left Liverpool on good terms at the end of the 2019-20 season.
And Klopp, his former coach, is desperate to see Lallana, who remains a firm favorite among the fan base, receive a warm reception to recognize his accomplishments.

At day program, said: ‘I cannot speak of our visitors without mentioning a crucial player within their ranks who we still have great affection for.
‘Adam Lallana is our opponent today and we are his. We want to beat him with everything we have and he will feel the same for us. So when the whistle blows, our friendship and shared experiences are put on hold. We all know this.
But I hope that on both sides of the game there is an opportunity for all of us to give our thanks to Adam for his contribution.

“ He came back here last season when our field was empty. Therefore, today is the first real opportunity for our fans to recognize him.
Once again, our fans are smart enough to know, while the game is on, he is a pivotal player for an opposition trying to win the points.
Adam is one of the founding fathers of the success that this current Liverpool has had in recent seasons. Personally, I will always be grateful for what he did when he was with us. It seems now he does something similar for Brighton to what he did for us.
“I wish him nothing but good luck in every game when he is not facing Liverpool.”
Last season, Lallana (center) played in Merseyside with no fans present due to the pandemic
Lallana played for Merseyside for six seasons, and was a regular on the team that reached the final of the Europa League in the 2015-16 campaign and then qualified for the Champions League the following year.
Afterward, he was hit by a series of injuries, restricting him to just three starts in 2017-18. However, he did play in the final Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, having replaced Mohamed Salah.
The following season, Lallana won the competition with the Reds, but was among the substitutes for the clash against Tottenham.
His final year at Liverpool, in 2019-20, saw him make 22 appearances overall. He then joined Brighton on a free transfer.

Jordan Henderson, a close friend of Lallana and the captain of his team, also wishes the former England player to receive an enthusiastic response this afternoon.
He said: ‘Adam got quite a few cheers from fans when he was here and he couldn’t have left us on better terms so it would be nice if he could be reminded how much we will always appreciate him. .
