Liverpool have been given a boost in their quest to maintain their undefeated start to the season by welcoming Naby Keita and Thiago to training.

Jurgen Klopp’s men humiliated their perennial rivals Manchester United on their own ground last weekend, and the Reds scored five goals over David de Gea to cause scenes of chaos at the end of the distance.

The result soured after Keita was disturbingly carried out on a stretcher in the second half following a reckless two-foot lunge from Paul Pogba, who saw his initial yellow card for the inning disallowed and traded for a direct red.

Naby Keita has returned to training after suffering an injury in last weekend's 5-0 win over Manchester United.

However, Keita’s injury was not as severe as initially feared and he is now in line to quickly return to the team after picturing him training with the group on Thursday afternoon.

Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders provided fans with a brief update on Keita’s injury, saying the midfielder had only suffered bruises from Pogba’s entry.

Lijnders told the club’s official website ahead of his 2-0 win over Preston in the Carabao Cup: ‘Naby has a bruise at the moment, we assess it day by day. It looks good, so that’s good. ‘

And the news got better for Liverpool fans after Thiago was also photographed again training alongside Keita, with the pair joking and laughing as they both participated in hilarious-looking workouts.

While the pair returned with the main group, Lijnders revealed that the Spaniard still has doubts about whether he will participate in the trip from Brighton to Anfield on Sunday.

Thiago: Brighton will be close, but probably not. He’s almost back, ‘he added.

Thiago has been out of action since Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on September 18 after he injured his calf.

But Keita’s return is certainly on the agenda, given that he has appeared prominently for Klopp in recent weeks.

Keita and James Milner formed a three in midfield alongside captain Jordan Henderson with Curtis Jones replacing the injured Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replacing Keita after he was on the receiving end of Pogba’s dangerous challenge.

Liverpool wiped out United after Keita overtook them in the first five minutes. Goals from Diogo Jota and two from Mohamed Salah brought them into halftime with four goals in favor.

Salah scored his third and Liverpool’s fifth 10 minutes before Pogba was sacked as Klopp’s side totally humiliated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
