Lisa Marie Presley’s estranged husband fears she will relapse after son’s death

Lisa Marie Presleythe estranged husband, Michael Lockwood, filed documents in their custody case saying he fears she will relapse after the suicide of her son Benjamin Keough.

Lockwood, 59, who shares twin daughters Harper and Finley, 11, with the only child of the late Elvis Presley, has filed the claim in summary proceedings before the Superior Court of California on Thursday, July 23, in which he argued that for the time being, it would be best for everyone involved to give him full custody of the girls.

“On July 12, 2020, Petitioner ‘s son shot suicide at Petitioner’ s house (although the applicant was not there at the time),” Lockwood states in the documents obtained by Us weekly. “With all sympathy and respect, this creates a new and unaddressed dual problem: the safety of the children and the greater likelihood of the petitioner relapsing into drug or alcohol addiction.”

Keough, Lisa Marie’s son with first husband Danny Keoughdied earlier this month at his mother’s home in Calabasas, California, from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 27.

Lockwood claims that there was at least one gun in Lisa Marie’s house when Keough committed suicide, “and it’s unclear where the gun was kept and whether Finley and / or Harper might have had access to this gun or other weapons. Thus, there is a significantly high risk to the safety of the children, which would normally justify 100 percent physical custody to the respondent in such circumstances. ”

The musician added that “the chances are more” that the twins are “thinking of suicide or trying, in light of their half-brother’s suicide,” and that the girls may need more therapy and close observation, who are 52- Lisa Marie, “maybe she can’t because of her way of thinking and sadness.”

He also said that “it wouldn’t be surprising” for his estranged wife “to relapse into drug or alcohol use despite her alleged three-year sobriety.”

Lisa Marie’s representative, Roger Widynowski, said U.S in a statement on July 12 that “she is completely broken, inconsolable and more than heartbroken” over the death of her son “but tries to remain strong for her 11-year-old twins and her eldest daughter Riley [[[[Keough]. She loved that boy. He was the love of her life. ‘

Lockwood, who split from Lisa Marie in June 2016 after 10 years of marriage and fought her in court over custody of their children, added that the singer who has 50 percent physical custody of the children may not even be in the interest of the children at this time. He is currently following visits with his children and has proposed that the couple share joint legal and physical custody of the twins and be granted child benefit of ‘no less than about $ 9,500 a month’.

A hearing is scheduled for August 3.
