One joked that the joke was worthy of a red card, writing: ‘Red card. Ruler of the phone in your pocket.

While another wrote: ‘Oh no, this is a red card and the phone is at the hospital.’

The joke occurred as Leicester was preparing to face Chelsea on Saturday in the Premier League return after the international break.

Maddison didn’t get a call-up for Gareth Southgate’s team when England secured their spot for next year’s World Cup, but the midfielder must be rested and ready to face Chelsea at King Power Stadium.

Brendan Rodgers’ team is currently 11th in the Premier League on goal difference, but is tied with Crystal Palace and Everton on points.
