Lauren Sorrentino: reconnecting with Mike Sorrentino was like ‘Fate’

Meant to be! Lauren Sorrentino thought about the early days of her relationship with her now-husband, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, and opened up how the pair reconnected after their college romance.

During a revealing game by Us weekly‘I Can Explain’, Lauren, 35, provided insight into her favorite photos with the Jersey Shore alum, 38. The couple dated from 2004 to 2007, but paused their relationship for “however long Jersey Shore MTV’s reality series originally aired from 2009 to 2012. Looking back on her time with the Dancing with the stars alum, Lauren said U.S that finding love again felt like “destiny.”

“Although we had such a long break – for years – after reconnecting, it was full speed ahead,” she explained. “He never left New Jersey … but I never met him. I had friends and family and people who would always meet him. In about five or six years, no matter how long that break was, I never ran into him. It was kind of a lot. ‘

Years later, Lauren still remembers when she fell for the reality star all over again. “One evening in the spring of 2013, I was at a kickboxing gym and he knew I was going there because I kept seeing his family there,” she recalled. “He knew what class I was taking every night and then he showed up. We made contact and that was it. ‘

The couple became engaged in April 2018 and seven months later, U.S broke the news that they tied the knot at New Jersey’s Legacy Castle. Days after their wedding, Lauren gushed about her deep bond with the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star.

“We are best friends, but we are contradictions,” she said U.S only at the moment. “We’re really made for each other. I feel like he’s my soul mate and I don’t think everyone gets a chance to find his soul mate in life, but if you do, you’ll find a way to … go and make it work. ‘

During their relationship, the couple has faced a number of hurdles, but their struggles have only made them stronger. In October 2018, Mike was sentenced to eight months in prison after being found guilty of tax evasion earlier that year. He was released in September 2019. Two months later, the duo announced they had a heartbreaking loss seven weeks after Lauren’s first pregnancy.

“That certainly brought us closer together,” said Lauren U.S of her past miscarriage earlier this month. “Mike and I are an open book, which was a big reason why I wanted to share it. … As soon as we shared that, it was like a burden on our back. Only helping others by sharing my story is always the best thing I can do. ‘
