‘Conor McGregor is trying to get all my sloppy seconds back’: Justin Gaethje taunts Irishman for chasing fights with Donald Cerrone and Michael Chandler after he defeated them
- Justin Gaethje recently defeated Michael Chandler in an incredible contest
- He’s asking for a title shot while his opponent wants to fight Conor McGregor
- ‘The Highlight’ thinks McGregor is chasing his ‘sloppy seconds’
Justin Gaethje has mocked Conor McGregor for what the American sees as going after his ‘sloppy seconds’.
The American recently sent Michael Chandler in three fierce rounds in his contender for Fight of the Year at UFC 268.
Gaethje is convinced he deserves the next shot at the lightweight title, while Chandler has called up McGregor.
Justin Gaethje said he finds it ‘funny’ that Conor McGregor wants to fight opponents he just defeated as was the case with Donald Cerrone and could be with Michael Chandler
‘The Highlight’ noted that McGregor is accepting fights against opponents he has already beaten.
McGregor also fought Donald Cerrone in 2020, just months after Gaethje defeated ‘Cowboy’ and many fans were interested in the Irishman facing the victor rather than the loser of that encounter.
He told TMZ Sports: ‘I never want to talk like that because I hate doing it. [Donald Cerrone] is someone I want to spend the rest of my life with.
I don’t want to disrespect you in any way. Chandler doesn’t deserve it. Ferguson doesn’t deserve it. But to me, it feels like we’re in elementary school and Conor McGregor kept trying to get me back all my sloppy seconds. Isn’t that what is happening?
McGregor defeated Donald Cerrone a few months after Justin Gaethje did the same.
And I find it very funny. I need that guy who makes cartoons to make a cartoon out of it. But God I hate to say it because again it’s disrespectful to the opponents I beat, ‘Gaethje continued.
But I fought Cowboy, then he wants to fight Cowboy. I just beat up Chandler, now he wants to fight Chandler.
‘He will never say my name. And Ferguson is now on the list too. So I find it comical. ‘
McGregor has since suggested that Gaethje is trying to lure him into a fight, joking: “You can’t bait whale boys, there’s no chance.”
Gaethje had been promoted to fight McGregor after beating ‘Cowboy’, but the Irishman faced the veteran.
Chandler had posted a mock image of himself confronting McGregor with the caption ‘2022’.
And the Irishman, who is still sidelined by the broken leg suffered against Dustin Poirier, replied: ‘I’m sure at some point. Great fight the other night Mike, congrats!
Chandler is ranked No. 5 in the division with McGregor at No. 9, while Gaethje solidified his position at No. 2 and could face the winner of the December clash between Poirier and champion Charles Oliveira.
