As a man of many talents, it should come as no surprise that the great winning golfer John Daly can throw out a first pitch.

But when he stepped onto the mound at a St. Louis Cardinals game on Wednesday night, he may not have expected to throw such a good one.

Daly walked all the way to the mound, taking no closer, and threw a perfect fastball right over the center of the plate.

It’s been quite a busy few months for Daly, despite no longer playing golf on the PGA Tour. Daly has played in a few events on the PGA Champions Tour (formerly the Senior Tour).

It was recently announced that Daly has asked Greg Norman to participate in the LIV Tour.

“Look, sometimes I prefer to play with amateurs than with the pros, but we have to be compensated for that,” said Daly.

“The LIV tour gives players that. They play pro-ams, it’s a big party, they play for a lot of money, and those guys who are on that tour are making that money. And I think there are a lot of other guys who make that money. Especially this old man.’

Even after not being made it to the tour, he publicly defended it against critics of the Saudi government’s involvement.

‘It’s unbelievable. Politicians are so stupid about this,” Daly said. “I could talk about Nike, I could talk about other companies. Little eight-year-olds build shoes for Nike. Okay.

‘We don’t want to go into that, do you? You want to talk about labor laws. We’re talking about golf, guys playing golf, it’s an international sport.

“The Prince of Saudi Arabia is a great guy and he has given so much money to golfers who deserve it. Well, there are some who don’t deserve it because I should be on that tour.

Daly and his son, John II, were both recently signed by restaurant chain Hooters as brand ambassadors. John II is a freshman at the University of Arkansas – his father’s alma mater – and a member of the golf team.
