A decade of love. James Van Der Beek thought about the best years of his life in a sweet tribute to his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, in honor of their 10th wedding anniversary.
The Dawson’s Creek Alum, 43, shared a series of family photos with Kimberly, 37, via Instagram on Saturday, August 1.
“Today, ten years ago, this woman made me the happiest I had ever been,” James wrote. “A year earlier I had been famous, rich, married, divorced, less wealthy, single … and I was traveling in Israel with an organized group when it hit me: I was done with single. I wanted a real relationship. A soul mate. Someone I could start a family with. ‘
He added, “I was in the middle of revelation and rattled all this to a friend of mine when a voice interrupted us and asked him a question. I was annoyed. Who the hell did my whole moment? I turned around … it was @vanderkimberly. ‘
Although Kimberly wasn’t interested in pursuing a serious romance at the time, she immediately started dating Varsity Blues star.
“Three days later I asked her what she was looking for in a relationship,” he wrote. Her answer: “I’m not looking for a relationship. We lived together six months later. Two weeks later we were pregnant, and almost exactly a year to the date after she first interrupted me (where we are in the last photo) … we were married. “
The couple – who tied the knot in Israel in 2010 – encountered many highs and lows in their marriage. The couple revealed in November 2019 that Kimberly had miscarried while a Connecticut resident was battling Dancing with the stars. The duo are the parents of Olivia, 9, Joshua, 8, Annabel, 6, Emilia, 4 and Gwendolyn, 2.
Seven months later, James said that his wife had another miscarriage. “Last weekend, again, 17 weeks into … the soul that we had enthusiastically welcomed into the world had classes for our family, not participating in a living physical body,” he wrote on Instagram in June.
Kimberly opened earlier in September 2018 about the suffering of three miscarriages “with a gestation period of about ten weeks”. “I was devastated every time,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “After one of them, I was crying in the shower for almost five hours. Fortunately, I am now at peace with all of them and I have five children. ”
