Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netnayahu has just briefed foreign journalists on the efforts to end the fighting.
“We don’t stand with a stopwatch,” he said. “We provide the objectives of the operation.”
He said earlier that Israel fought to restore peace and maximize the time it would take for a truce with Hamas.
“There are only two ways you can deal with them. You can overcome them – and that is always an open possibility – or you can deter them,” Netanyahu said.
“We are currently engaged in a powerful deterrent, but I have to say that we are not ruling out anything.”
