Is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about to be fired from Manchester United?

Reports on Monday suggest a decision will be made on the manager’s future before the end of the day.

The future of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under further scrutiny this Monday after reports that co-chairman Joel Glazer is considering replacing the Norwegian.

This is the result of the Red Devils’ humiliating loss to Liverpool on Sunday, where Jürgen Klopp’s men won 5-0 thanks to goals from Naby Keita, Diogo Jota, and a hat-trick from Mohamed Salah in form.

It is a result which, if we are to believe the reports, could signal the end of his managerial tenure at Old Trafford.

What has been reported?
Jamie Jackson and Fabrizio Romano claimed Monday that the club’s director Richard Arnold had canceled all appointments that day to hold talks with Glazer.

The Guardian also reported that several players are questioning Solskjaer’s position and it is believed he is not good enough for his current role. “The 48-year-old is considered tactically disappointing while being loved by the squad and within the wider club,” she added.

With Glazer, based in Florida, any decision will likely come late Monday.

Elsewhere, ESPN has said that only the team’s “British players and a small number of foreign players” still support Solskjaer.

They also argue that Liverpool’s defeat has exacerbated existing doubts and players have become annoyed by his ‘preference’ of certain members of the squad and his inability to solve the club’s defensive problems.

According to ESPN, Solskjaer has failed to “impose his authority” over the team’s attackers and wants clearer tactical instructions from the manager.

The Manchester Evening News echoes those reports, claiming several first-team stars are astonished at the lack of opportunities given to Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek, while the club has failed to respond to requests about Solskjaer’s future.
