In August 2021, the Returning Mothers Conference was held to create a platform for conversations between the industry and the scientists and engineers in India who want to return to work after childbirth. The conference also focused on providing end-to-end entrepreneurial training and support in setting up a business.

456 participants from 47 countries and 50 speakers took part to make this a success. A post-conference course is offered by The Lighthouse to 40 scholarship winners. This two-month intensive course on personal branding through storytelling.

Inspire and involve

This track highlights the importance of career advancement, or upskilling, as a professional prepares to return to the job market by ensuring they have the skills that are currently in demand.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The aim of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Pathway is to motivate mothers and other professionals who have taken a career break due to personal life priorities and to help them refocus and become successful entrepreneurs. This includes events IDEATHON and PitchFest.

Novelty and Invention

Aimed at education professionals with a STEM, Novelty and Invention teaches the importance of intellectual property rights and showcases the many laws in India.

About returning mothers

Returning Mothers was founded six years ago as a small workshop for returning mothers in Coimbatore, India to inspire professionals to return to sustainable careers after a break. With the support of IEEE Computer Society and WePower, the first conference was held in 2019 and this conference has continued to grow and impact the lives of WHO affinity groups across India.
