  • Victims, 5 and 7, stabbed dozens of times in Naperville, Illinois before killer fled to church
  • Police say babysitter Elzbieta M. Plackowska, 40, killed her son Justin and Olivia Dworakowski and left it in a pool of blood
  • Two dogs have also been found killed in a suburban house

Before she killed her son and the little girl she had to babysit, prosecutors said Elzbieta M. Plackowska, 40, told them they were going to heaven and getting on their knees to pray.

Police found Plackowska covered in blood in a suburb of Naperville, Illinois, and after extensive questioning, she is said to have told police she killed her son Justin, 7, and his friend Olivia Dworakowski because they “had the evil in them.”

Prosecutors before a judge said this morning that Plackowska argued with her husband and felt unappreciated as a babysitter, so she killed the children in a fit of rage.

Justin was found stabbed 100 times. Olivia was stabbed 50 times. Plackowska was denied bail.

“She told Justin he was going to heaven tonight as she repeatedly stabbed him,” DuPage County attorney Robert Berlin told the court, according to the Daily Herald.

“He begged her to stop and said he loved her.”

Mr Berlin described the scene before the gruesome murder and said the two children were jumping on their beds at Olivia’s house, where Plackowska would be looking after her.

The babysitter then ordered them to lie on the floor and pray before going to sleep.

“The children had evil in them,” Plackowska is said to have told the police.

Mr Berlin said she was “trying to drive the evil out of them.” She said the devil was in them.’

Both children’s throats were cut and Justin was found in a bed, Olivia on the floor.

Prosecutors say that after Plackowska killed the innocents, she frantically called a local church and left numerous messages.

She then went to a friend’s house and claimed that someone had robbed her. Her boyfriend was suspicious of the story as the details kept changing, Mr. Berlin said.

Meanwhile, Olivia’s mother Marta Dworakowski, a nurse, called the police because when she got home from her night shift, Plackowska’s car was not there and she couldn’t get into the house.

Police were able to break into the suburban house on Quin Court just after 10pm and found blood all over the hallway leading them to the nursery.

“Both victims had been stabbed multiple times,” said Mr Berlin. “Looks like both victims had their throats slit.”

Officers also found that the family’s two dogs had also been stabbed to death.

When questioned by the police, Plackowska told them several stories, including one in which a stalker attacked her own wrists. Finally, they said, she admitted to killing the children.

She told them that she had argued with her husband Artur, a truck driver, about his work schedule and that she felt she was being abused as a babysitter. The couple also have a college-age son who has not been named.

Sources told the Daily Herald that Plackowska had been stressed for several days after her father’s death and that she looked forward to returning to Poland, a decision her husband objected.

Olivia was a Brookdale Elementary School preschooler and Justin attended Scott School in Naperville District 203.

Police say Plackowska is awaiting suicide in prison after she was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

“In all my years in law enforcement, this was the most horrific and horrific crime scene I’ve seen,” Naperville Police Chief Robert Marshall told the Chicago Tribune after the hearing today.

The tragedy comes less than a week after a babysitter in New York City reportedly stabbed to death two young children in her care before slitting her own throat and wrists in an attempt to take her life.
